Experienced hands, for organizations that can’t afford to guess.
501See Consulting Group was built on a simple idea: nonprofits doing hard, essential work deserve senior-level help — whether they’re weathering a transition or simply want to run better.
Founded and owned by two partners with over 30 years of combined nonprofit experience, the firm pairs seasoned executive leadership with deep financial, legal, and operational expertise. That experience runs especially deep in the human-services and disability community — but the challenges we help with are shared across the sector: steadying an organization, funding the mission, and keeping the finances and compliance sound.
We work as part of your team, start with a clearly scoped first step, and stay focused on leaving your organization stronger than we found it.

Larry Wanger
Co-Founder & Principal
Larry Wanger has spent more than 25 years building, leading, and transforming nonprofits from the inside. He brings the perspective of someone who has lived the challenges nonprofit leaders face — managing shoestring budgets, scaling operations through periods of crisis, navigating compliance, and securing new funding. His career spans direct service, program management, and over a decade of nonprofit executive leadership, complemented by board service at the local, state, and national levels.
That experience runs especially deep in the human-services and disability community, including executive leadership in the independent living field — but the challenges Larry helps organizations navigate are shared across the sector: steadying an organization through change, strengthening operations, and preparing a nonprofit for whatever comes next.
Larry understands tight budgets, overworked staff, and the pressure to show funders a return. He helps organizations work smarter without working harder — freeing capacity, reducing burnout, and letting teams focus on what they do best: their mission.
Larry is a longtime advocate for the independent living movement and believes strong organizations are what let good missions endure. He’s happiest when a nonprofit he’s helped is running steadier than the day he arrived.

Laura Wanger, CPA
Co-Founder & Principal
For most nonprofit leaders, the mission is the easy part to love — it’s the machinery behind it, the finance, compliance, and operations, where the friction lives. Laura Wanger exists to remove that friction. She serves as the bridge between a nonprofit’s vision and the fiscal and operational reality required to achieve it, offering the kind of technical assurance that lets leaders sleep at night knowing their organization rests on a foundation of integrity and efficiency.
Laura brings a rare dual command of both the numbers and the law that governs them. A Certified Public Accountant with a Master of Jurisprudence in Labor and Employment Law, she has guided teams through audit readiness, untangled multi-state payroll liabilities, and optimized tax and regulatory compliance. She has managed nationwide payroll operations for thousands of employees and stewarded the finances of a nonprofit with a $40 million annual budget, drawing on experience across the nonprofit, corporate, and municipal sectors.
A Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Laura views operations through a lens of continuous improvement — helping organizations streamline internal systems to do more with less. Her approach blends the empathy of the human-services world with the discipline of the corporate one, so that while you focus on changing the world, your organization stays grounded in financial stability and operational excellence.
Laura finds real satisfaction in bringing order to complexity — the moment a tangled set of books or a compliance worry finally resolves into something a leader can trust. She believes sound operations aren’t bureaucracy; they’re what free a mission to grow.
Seeing Nonprofits Through Transitions isn’t a tagline we chose to sound good. It’s the work we’ve done for years, and the reason we started this firm.
